Dr. Esthir Lemi studied visual arts with a focus on painting (Athens School of Fine Arts 1999) and music composition (Athens Conservatory 2004) in Greece. She has a Master of Arts (UdK Berlin 2003) in multimedia works and a Masters in electroacoustic music (ZHDK Zurich 2009) as part of her PhD Thesis entitled: Redefining Total Artwork through the new Technologies (University of Athens, School of Philosophy – Music Studies, 2011). She has been awarded with several scholarships: for her achievements as a student (IKY- School of Fine Arts), for her studies in Berlin (Onassis Scholarship) and Zurich (Scholarship of the Swiss Government), as well as for her PhD research (Propontis Foundation) and further research at ICST in Zurich (SNF) and at the University of Michigan in the Performing Arts Technology Department (first European artist awarded with the Fulbright Schuman Grant).
She has been chosen to represent her country at numerous events and international festivals (Bjcem 2003 and 2005, Patras -European Capital of Culture 2006, Athens Biennial 2011, NIME12, Innovation in Music II, Escales Galeries Lafayette, permanent Installation GMEM Marseille 2019) both as a visual artist and as a composer, furthering her research concerning the perception of connective forms of performance for a wide audience.
